What's this new area for?

This is a place to make announcements and discuss big news in audio.  I figure it should go at the top rather than buried somewhere.
What constitutes 'big' is somewhat subjective but to give an idea; Logitech buying Slim Devices is big news, AudioNervosa giving away free gear is, but buying a new pair of monitors isn't.  I'd like to keep this geared to big news in forums (especially ours) and the audio industry.
