Panasonic got out of Plasma last year, Samsung is getting out as we speak and LG should never have gotten in. My LG has been slowly failing (vertical lines) and not worth fixing. So I decided it's now or never to replace.
Researched the Samsungs still available and decided to go with the "unsmart" version. Best price ended up being at Best Buy. $500 for a 51" 1080P PN51F5300. Great picture out of the box using Movie mode and I'll calibrate it after a couple of months of breakin using AVS forum suggestions and a Blu Ray setup disk. Just ordered a Roku Streaming Stick to make my TV "Smart".
A little disappointed that Plasma is dying, but not surprised. Glare is an issue in a bright room and burn in hasn't been for a long time but for me Plasma is like high end and LED is like Bose and we know who's winning that war.
Hopefully 4k OLED will be affordable and improved by the time I need another TV and I can watch my Beta tapes on it without missing my Plasma.
