Of course aliens built them. You can't get any kind of construction done without alien labor of some kind.   

By the way, my brother went to Egypt in 1977.  At that time only the shoulders and the head of the Great Sphinx was above the sand. 

The Egyptians had let it get that bad? Weren't some ancient sites lost some decades ago when they built a gigantic dam?
