Hi Steve,
Just curious if you've ever tried the Amtrans AMRG resistors? I have them in my Hattor Big preamp which sounds terrific
Nick
Hi Nick,
No, I have not heard of them. But then I have not been in the parts scene that much for a
decade or so. I just checked and they are carbon film, which I do not recommend.
But that is me personally. Even between the Mills and Dayton non-inductive resistors (heavily
bypassed) I could discern a sonic difference in the output stage.
Cheers
steve
I appreciate your thoughts, Steve. I don't know much about resistors other than the usual well regarded ones. These AMRG resistors in my Hattor preamp are the priciest upgrade and it is such a wonderful sounding preamp. I may soon try the new Hattor 6ns7 tube buffer as a result.
Nick
Good luck with the new preamplifier Nick. What would be interesting is to have 4 preamps, each
with the different resistor types to compare sonics.
cheers and all the best
steve
An interesting experiment that would be, Steve, although a bit on the expensive side side! I will let you know if I get that Hattor tube buffer.
Sounds good Nick.
Cheers

Hi Steve,
Santa provided a very unexpected and early gift. So it is with 95% -/+ certainty that I'll be ordering that Hattor 6ns7 buffer. As to tubes, maybe the new Ray Reserve line.
Nick
Sounds interesting Nick. Can I look for an evaluation/review, either after breakin, or along the way?
cheers
steve
Yes, Steve. I am about to order the 6ns7 buffer. The Hattor Big solid state preamp is so outstanding that the new version tube buffer is certainly worth taking a chance on.
I guess owner/designer Arek Kallas is a low key guy and doesn't really promote his products. He did ask me to write a review on the Hattor Big and I did. I'm so glad to have owned the Supratek Chardonnay 6ns7 preamp and now the Hattor/Khozmo line.
Nick
No. 5 needs more input, more input.
Not clear what you meant. Can you restate?
No. 5 is a robot from the movie Short Circuit. No. 5 claims to be alive after an incident. No. 5 arrives at this
lady's house and reads every piece of literature and watches tv all night, including the three stooges.
He constantly says, need more input, more input. Really an entertaining and futuristic movie.
Just my weird sense of humor.
cheers
steve
Ah, thanks. Humor is good as is weird humor. I just hadn't heard of that movie 🍿 🤷
It is one different movie, almost prophetic (and humorous). A similar type story was recorded in China
recently.
According to the story, two businesses....
