Ron Grainer: The Ωmega Man
« on: September 26, 2021, 09:00:08 PM »
Anyone here a fan of The Ωmega Man or any of Ron Grainer's works (The Prisoner, Doctor Who, etc.)?

And by Ωmega Man, I don't mean the horrible 2000s Will Smith version, I mean the 1970s, sci-fi film with Charlton Heston!

I've been wanting to have my own copy of The Ωmega Man soundtrack since the 80s!

It is now available on Spotify.

It's got some bombastic, dated, 'groovy parts' that smack of 1970s exploitation, but there are some very genuinely interesting ideas here, such as the use of a waterchime.

It's got some nice motifs, it's got jazz, and it's got some very dissonant, 20th century stuff mixed with orchestra and synth!

I better grab the cd from Amazon, before they sell out and offer it for 5x the price.

I just saw your post, Paul. I’ve heard of The Omega Man, but that’s about it 🤷‍♂️
At first, I thought the profile looked like Prince Charles
Couldn’t find it on Roon or Tidal…
