Hey, all!

I've been super busy for the past couple months, so I haven't stopped by to post in a while. My wife and I just finished a road trip from Oregon to the Twin Cities (TC) via the northern States. We briefly stopped in Theodore Roosevelt National Park to gawk at the vistas and Bison, and St. Paul to visit my younger sister and I.Greyhound Fan. . We left the TC for St. Louis (ate some yummy BBQ) and on to Atlanta (now) to visit our son, DIL and our energetic 15-month old grandson. I think we covered 3850 miles in 15 days.

In a month, we'll drive back to Oregon along the southern States to avoid potentiially nasty winter weather. We'll get to visit a couple AN members (you know who you are!) along the way.

That's all for now. Take care and happy listening!

Michael...Michael who?...haha. Good to have you back and glad that you are busy and enjoying yourselves. Hard to believe the little guy is 15 months. Nice that you are visiting I. Greyhound Fan. A very nice and knowledgeable guy.

I had back surgery a few months ago and was laying low for a while, just resting and taking numerous short walks every day. It was nice to get back to regular listening.

The last few days I've been listening to one of Leo's latest releases... the Starkrimson 25 monos. Very good sounding amps with an attractive enclosure and laser engraving and quality components. I'll have them for another couple of days and then write a review as Leo requests on the tour.

I would think you wouldn't have much time as to getting new equipment or evaluating some products. Do you have anything in mind once you get back home and get settled?

It has indeed been a while since I posted here. Back surgery sounds frightening. I trust you're doing better now. My mother-in-law had back surgery 20+ years ago after slipping on my stairs. Two (?) of her vertabrae had cement <I think> injected into them followed by their being fused together. [It's been so long that I don't remember every detail.]

Someday, I will manage to listen to Leo's creations, but that time has not yet arrived. As for other equipment - I just bought a pair of PBS Synchrony One floorstanding speakers from I.Greyhound's son for my nephew in the Twin Cities. He 'gets' audio, but has the barest of shoestring budgets, so I decided to help him out.

I don't recall if I mentioned it earlier this year, but I did finally get to audition a pair of Devore O/96 speakers back in the beginning of this year. They're oh so sweet sounding. I would definitely buy a pair if I didn't already own my wonderful Daedalus Apollos.

Between our grandson; ailing parents-in-law, and unpleasant changes in the world, I've become hesitant to invest in new gear.

I moved from so. Utah in 2022. I'm very familiar with some excellent doctors there and the hospital is quite good as well. So I did travel there for the surgery and have gone back for the follow up visits... like today. Bone fusion looks good and some discomfort with muscles etc. for a while is apparently not unusual. I am blessed to be able to walk more with a normal gait now and also stand up straight and in place comfortably speaking with someone without fidgeting or having to move around to relieve the discomfort. It pays off dealing with excellent practitioners and facilities.

At some point, I think you'd enjoy hearing what a very good Class D amp can sound like. I doubt I will ever purchase a very heavy amp again when amps like Leo's can sound so good.

How nice that you heard the Devores. I don't think I've heard any at the shows. It seems you love the Daedalus as much as I love my beloved JM Reynaud Voce Grande.

You and your wife have a lot going on and hopefully things will settle down over time.

In approximately 24 hours, my wife and I will pull into S Clark's driveway!  8) I will finally meet the man (the myth...the LEGEND!); be treated to a bunch of wonderful music and rabbit food (at my request), and I will ply him with some yummy 12-yr-old single malt Scotch that I picked up in Atlanta.

Good for you.  Scott is one of the best of us!  I'm sure you are having a wonderful time.  I'm sad that I'll miss you and Melody this round of travels.. I'm headed to Tucson for about 10 days.  Hopefully I'll catch you next time!

I hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I finally got to hear a pair of LS-9 speakers - and they sound really good. Their soundstage is noticeably taller than with my Apollos. I detected no distortion....every voice, every instrument was 'clean' without any smearing.

Scott and Renee are wonderful hosts. They prepared a veritable feast for us. Dave, it's been about 10 years since we visited you in ABQ, but I'm afraid I must declare that Scott's steak tastes better than yours. That mesquite-infused smoky flavor is to die for!

You guys would expect that the LS-9s were the star of the show, but you'd be wrong. Bentley, is Scott's and Renee's 5-year old African(?) breed dog, and he just loves attention. If you visit them, be prepared to administer butt scratches, neck rubs, and head scratches late into the night. Bentley will even talk to you!

Dave,

Funny that you should mention Tuscon. We expect to arrive there on Thanksgiving Day or the day after. Much depends on whether we drive up to Truth or Consequences for a day of hot tub soaking after a night spent in El Paso. Anyway, we will arrive in Tuscon, and will likely stay for three nights before heading west (or north depending on weather conditions in the Oregon Cascades). If you have a free afternoon to shoot the shit, we'd be delighted to meet up with you.

We are in Terlingua, TX for 4 nights. Big Bend NP's trails, sights and sounds are why we're here.  It was a hechuva long drive to get here yesterday, so we're going to make the most of our days here.

Bentley is a Basenji half breed with??  He'd been exiled from the house from his first encounter with a skunk a couple of days before Michael and Melody arrived, and he was soooo excited to have company.
We played mostly jazz and classical at moderate to low volumes.  Unfortunately I couldn't accommodate most of Michael's musical request- I'm way behind the times and primarily just spin vinyl.
The next day, as they were getting ready to leave to head west, I realized they would be staying only a few miles from some property we own outside the Terlingua ghost town.  It's a small world, even if he did have to drive about 480 miles to find himself in my backyard again.
