HD Broadcasts of live shows
« on: January 26, 2007, 09:35:14 AM »
I heard a really interesting show on HDnet yesterday... I'd say I watched it but my vision was weird yesterday... It was a live show of 25 years of music production from a Trevor-something... They had Yes, Seal, Pet Shop Boys, 'T.a.t.u.' and a bunch of others up there... just doing their thing.

Anyway, the way it was recorded was so weird.  It was really clear, with the singer being very isolated, as if he was singing alone.  The audience was almost non-existant.  All the other instruments were audible, most of the time.  You could really hear the soundboard choices and mic arrangements... and overall I didn't like it at all... it just wasn't 'blended' somehow...

Anyone ever experience this?  It was the oddest thing I've ever heard... very clear, excellent sound... but soul-less, sort of odd, and clearly hard to explain. ;)

Maybe the best way to explain it was it sounded well-produced but maybe OVER-produced?
