i think these are the new tube for my candela-
they throw a huge sound stage, have great bass, mid bass and vocals drip with spit-lol
steel drums sound so great-

if you have a candela -this is a tube to give a try-even more so than the cbs/hytron imho

I was just curious :)

While I don't use a Candella; and I realize that different tubes behave differently in different curcuits; if you get a chance to try Phillips JAN 5814A's sometime...I'd be interested in your thoughts.

In my Wyetech...they are stupid good. RCA's and Raytheons were very good too. The Phillips tubes cost very little...and like most 5814's, are rugged as hell.

Enjoy those Raytheons

Are these the same thing as the Raytheon 5814 triple mica?

I had one on loan from a friend in my Minimax, and it had incredible bass, but seemed a little recessed in the upper mids -- though it handily beat out an Amperex 7316 PQ.

What's the going price on these?  May consider them for my Cayin.

I had some mid 50's Raytheon double mica 5814's that were blackplates.

Pretty much indistinguishable from the CBS-Hytron 5814wa's (1955). Some claim they were the same tube.

I am using some Amperex 7316's right now. More balanced than the CBS-Hytrons which had better bass and were a little thicker and sweeter sounding.

Both great tubes IMHO.

Maybe I will track down some of these windmill getter triple micas. Have heard they are quite good.
