Bought a used pair of excellent condition Magnepan 1.7i speakers to try out with the dspNexus 2/8 for a different idea.  Checked and the mylar is flat and foil is flat as well for both of the 3-way planar diaphragms.

Left the passive crossover in the speaker and tried just correcting the frequency response on-axis with REW measurements and see what is possible.

The first picture is the stock speakers left and right using the passive crossovers as measured with REW at my listening chair.  The second is after taking the REW measurements and using their EQ filter generation for the correction.

The dip in response at ~60Hz is the ceiling to floor cancellation at my seat.  The best subs spots are where the 6x12 OB sub towers are located.  I need to move the 1.7i setup to the rear of the room for better sub placement from the REW room modeling.

Hi Rich,

Looks like a nice difference with their EQ. I am curious as to what the going rate is for a good quality 1.7i is and are they pretty easy to find?

I've seen Maggies at shows, but none of the guys in the now defunct Las Vegas audio club owned any.

Nick,
I see used 1.7i's on Facebook Marketplace for $1200-$1900.  The question is what condition the diaphragms and foil traces are in.  If both are not flat, do not bother with them as they need repair and usually costs more than a new pair.  Even if flat, then a listen is important to make sure all the planar elements are working.

Mine were a pair where they were a traded-in to a Magnepan dealer that were inspected.  I got them for $1400. New they are $3000.
