Audio: PCM 48 kHz 24 Bit, Stereo, 44100 Hz (English)

Disk author's note on audio: The 16-bit audio was double-tracked with bass removed from one track using iMovie audio software. This brought the mid-range and treble up to accentuate the singer's vocals.

travelinbeat's notes on the audio:
Location: *STEALTH*
Editing:  Tracking and fades were done while the show was laid in Sony Soundforge 10.0a (Build 425) as a wav file.  Periodic loud points (nearby claps) were enveloped to allow for more headroom in Normalization (each channel independently to -0.10dB).
Conversion: 24/96 wav's resampled using r8brain v1.9 at "Very High Quality" setting.  Newly created 16bit/44.1kHz wavs converted to flac using Trader's Little Helper v.2.7.0 (Build 172)

Notes: Here it is. Arguably the most famous Smile bootleg of all time, this collection is well done with generally excellent sound.  This is an essential title for your Smile collection, and I am presenting it here as an EAC rip from the original silvers, so there has only been one generation of DAE.  Enjoy! Scans are included in the torrent.

Compiled by Lights_1 7.24.2

More Notes:

This show had half-second pops in between each track for whatever reason.
I re-joined the entire set and edited them out in SoundEdit 16 v.2, re-split the tracks in CD Wave 1.71, and re-shortened using Shorten 1.1a4.
This show should now have NO problems. < ryan@muschology.com (08.19.2002) >

--
Hoserama Show Notes:
--Solid show by the Who. Band in good spirits, Roger sounds excellent, but maybe not the highest energy show in general. Good representation of the orchestra show overall.

Hoserama Recording Notes:
--Recorded a bunch of IEM feeds, and they love the click + counts. I've removed most of them, but you might still hear some left over. Pretty good mix overall.

Hoserama General Notes:
--As always, encouraging people to get into taping and mixing. Just take the craft seriously and it will reward you many times over. There's no point in complaining about missing recordings or subpar quality if you're not contributing--pushing 1's and 0's around on the internet is no comparison for taping.
--IEM recordings are not for everyone. If not they're not your thing, either sonically or ethically, well at least you didn't spend any money on this.
--Similarly, I'm mixing primarily for my ears. This is what sounds best to me. This may not sound best to you. That's a fair statement. I'm open to honest criticism (although you should have caught me when I was working on the mix!), but pointless complaining is unappreciated (naturally). Let's play nice.
--Please don't sell this recording in any way - no cash for blanks, 2:1s, or any other form of "getting paid for your time". Just share it freely.
--Please don't convert to mp3, then back to wave, and then trade it around. This stuff is too easy to find on torrents now.
--Feel free to remaster/remix this recording. Just keep it to your own computer and iPod.
--Also, please don't torrent or share on other sites without at least dropping me a line and asking. I may want to just torrent/share it there myself. This means you, guitar101!
--Please ask (and wait for permission!) before putting it into any matrix + video production. If you ask nicely for a quality high-res video project, I will likely say “yes”. If you put it on YouTube or cell phone video production without asking, I will send my cats from hell to chew your computer cables.
--Enjoy y'all!
- Hoserama/Sharebear

vanillag NOTES (1/6/2023):
--HUGE thanks to Hoserama/Sharebear/senecastj for all the detailed work & blood sweat & tears put into recording this 2022 the Who show & mixing it up so tastily for us all to enjoy!!  Also BIG thanks to Anonymous for the Schoeps MK4 capture of this night.  Much respect & Absolutely Appreciated!!
--I added the band members info
--discovered that "Amazing Journey" was also on t04 before "Sparks" & added that to the info
--added more detail to the setlist info
--added more detail to the venue info
--added the ffp fingerprints to the text file

BILLY COBHAM BAND
Casino
Montreux Jazz festival
July 19th, 1978

Billy Cobham (dr)
Alvin Batiste (cl, fl)
Randy Jackson (b)
Ray Mouton (g)
Charles Singleton (g)
Tom Coster (kbds)

SBD>Cdrs from Trade>EAC>FLAC
Quality:EX-

CD 1

T1 Drum Intro 6:02
T2 'Anteres'-The Star 7:06
T3 On a Magic Carpet Ride 10:02
T4 Puffnstuff tease?>Stratus 21:10
T5 BC Greeting :25

CD 2

T1 Intro :31
T2 Leaward Winds 6:23
T3 Burrito Bandito>Drum Solo  16:42
T4 Puffnstuff 7:52
T5 AC/DC 13:03

This is post peak Cobham but I have a soft spot for this album/group. Underated-IMO. The 20 min Stratus is guranteed to knock your socks off.

Tom Coster is a great surprise here! He does not play on the album or any other recordings that I know of. Of course, Mark Soskin is great too. Also, if you don't know already this IS the Randy Jackson of Journey/American Idol fame. Saw him with Narada in 83' and he killed! Charles Singleton is not well known but he does some nasty solos.

I kindly request that mighty Glasnost master his recording of this band & seed it (my copy has heaps of digi-noise). Thanks in advance!

enjoy

Notes:
- Brief cuts; Deal 1:31 & Dear Prudence 11:23, presumably MAC tape-flips.
- Tape-damage first half of Deal (blurry effect), decreases gradually.
- Only half a minute of Midnight Moonlight is present on this copy.
- Huge THANKS to Seaweed1010 for securing this tape for all of us!

.... picked this up a couple of years ago from a guy who claimed to have a low generation copy.
To my ear this sounds reasonable, a very listenable and reasonable quality recording
without too much hiss or crowd. For those not sure, checkout by downloading one
short track first. Don't see this one around very much, and have not seen on dime before.
Great version of Blows, but not separated into tracks - it's all or nothing.

Artwork included (homegrown).
