Hope to see folks at CAF2018 this weekend in the Plaza I room at the Hilton in Rockville, MD.

Bring music files on flash drives or CD if you want to hear your music.

Day 1 of CAF2018 is complete.

Had lots of very nice comments from listeners on the system and room treatments.  :D

Wow neat looking speakers.  I guess the monoliths are not easily transportable..  can you give any detail on the cool looking speakers you brought?

HAL

They are open baffle planar midrange and tweeter top baffles with two 2x12 open baffle servo subs.   The system is triamplified with a Danville Signal dspMusikLCD 2x8 digital crossover as the heart of the system.

They are kits to build with wood flatpacks and all speaker drivers with the dspMusikLCD.   The builder needs two stereo power amps to complete the system.  Balanced input amplification is highly recommended.

Sources can be analog, S/PDIF or USB2 Audio from PC or MAC into the dspMusikLCD.

Kit price is $7500.00 + shipping.

Here is the build thread for The Monoliths:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Rich,

I was great to finally meet you and get to see and hear the speakers I have been watching to design and build over the past year.

I was very impressed with the sound and the fit and finish was such that I never would have thought these were from a kit had I not already known.

I have to tell you, my wife would never put up with a set of bright blue speakers in the living room, but I personally got all excited when I saw them because they wer the same color as the '74 Camaro I had in college.  :X

Just curious, what kind of min/max input power do you recommend with them?
Remember, it's all about the music........

tmazz,
Great to meet you at CAF as well.

Glad you like the color.  Luckily these are kits, so you can paint them anyway you want.  :)

For the two stereo amps, I have tried them with 45wpc and had good dynamic levels in a listening room.  The Parasound A23's for the show was about 150wpc, more than the drivers can handle.  The thing to remember is the tweeters are 4 Ohm loads and the mids are 6 Ohm loads for the amps.  That goes into the amp decision.
