I've already applied dynamat to my Sony media player's top cover, with good results. Wanted to try something that won't likely melt on the amp's lid. It rattle and rings.

Looking at Audio Additives 3M or Soundcoat.

Any suggestions? Herbie's Dampening Sheet?

Thanks!

Paul

Sorbothane is a very good visoelastomer for damping items.  It will adhere to surfaces.

Just a thought.

Let us how know how that turns out, Paul. My house has been rattling a bit breaking in my 12" subs. It can get quite annoying 🙄

Whoah! Maybe some sub isolators like a pad or feet? Don't know if that would reduce the sound quality and bass output, though.

Paul,

I was able to find the most two offending locations and fixed those. So that settled things down quite a bit. I'm nearly done with break in. Then adjusting /dialing them in will be interesting I'm sure.

Dynamat can withstand the heat in an engine bay, should be able to handle an amplifier ;)

Good point! Been reading some opposing viewpoints, though. Some say too much can 'kill' the sound.

I last played around with different footers, spikes, decouplers, etc. years ago and this is the first time I'm putting anyting inside.

I guess this is another rabbit hole.

You can look into that rabbit hole by taking a big, heavy book and set it on the top of the amp.  This will give you an idea of what damping will do.
