Blu-Spec CDs??????
« on: October 11, 2010, 07:31:32 PM »
While looking on Amazon for an album cover jpg I came across a listing for a "Blu-Spec" CD. The listing described Blu-Spec as follows:

"Japanese Blu-Spec CD pressing of this classic album. The Blue Spec format takes Blu-ray disc technology to create CDs which are compatible with normal CD players but provides ultra high quality sound. Sony. 2009."

Has anybody heard anything about this Blu-Spec standard or better yet any first had experience with any of the discs? I am wondering a) what exactly is (allegedly) different about these discs and b) does it actually translate into better sound or is this just some more marketing hype?

I find it hard to believe that Sony has found a way to "improve" what they told us 25 years ago was "Perfect sound forever." :duh

Since nobody has even admitted to having heard of this I guess I can assume that the format never went anywhere and is a dead issue.
