They are a fairly nice speaker. They took about 40+ hours to break in and I added a preamp to the mix, plus my Bryston BDA-1... which really helped. What an amazing DAC. My second system DAC is the Theta Chroma 396. It has nice bass, but a brighter, more forward top end and probably little jitter control. So the speakers are really dependent on source and dont pretty things up. My previous speakers are the Epos M5 which have a much sweeter top end than the AV123s. AV123 treble was very rough and reticent until they were broken in. Bass is good, you can hear a little cabinet resonance during long bass passages, but they are only 29 lbs. speakers. I would expect them to need to be heavier to avoid this. To me they seem very sensitive to what you feed them. Better components yield better results. Placement is very important too, plus sitting below the top of the speaker. This seems to muffle the tweeter and the sound is much more coherent on axis than off. I am working in a small space so this may be the source of some of the seating issues. Those with more room may find them very more placement friendly. They are built well, come with a plinth and spikes. Overall for $99 bucks they are a bargain.

Barry do a search , I think a magazine reviewed them. They were introduced about 2 years ago

They are a variation of this speaker...

... but with cheaper crossover components and a different tweeter. I think Danny Richie designed it for AV123. I've heard the GR-Research version and it's a nice little speaker for a couple of hundred bucks. I suspect that the AV123 version could greatly benefit from a sheet of No Rez or similar damping material.
