Title: How to build a Tannoy " GRF Professional "Cabinet
Post by: Bill O'Connell on February 05, 2010, 10:20:19 PM
A project that was done many years ago.
I had the original blueprints for this Cabinet from Tannoy. They were done in a beautiful Rosewood finish when completed. The Tannoy Silver 15 inch drivers that I picked up from a gentleman down in New Zealand a long long time ago. Dr Gizmo sent me on my quest. This was a 8 foot folded horn design.300B's and these were lovely. Trust me, this speaker went LOW.

Thought you might enjoy. I have another 5 photos so I'm hoping if I post again I can attach the others

They must have sounded nice indeed.
Poor decision for sure.
Our lives and surrounding change which force decision like that.
We have all done that. Me too.

Bill,
I'm drooling!!!

These GRF's take the 15" dual concentric's...right?

I'm still drooling!

Awesome...wish I could hear!

About 12 years ago, a buddy of mine purchased some mammoth (way bigger than K-horns) Tannoy's that were in huge rectangular cabinet that had TWO, 15" dual concentrics per cabinet. He powered them with custom 300B SET amps...what sound!!! I remember seeing & hearing similar Tannoy's at a Stereophile show in Manhattan. I think Vladmir Lamm brought his personal Tannoys to the show along with some German Klangfilm horn speakers... wow, what sound!

Cheers,
Pete
