Title: Audio Designers
Post by: rollo on March 15, 2010, 12:58:05 PM
What would be the requirements for a great designer ? Mine are a EE who plays an instrument is open minded and thinks out of the box. A bit eccentric who loves his work and the arts. One who listens to his creations as well as measures. One thinks before he speaks. Helpfull.  Any thoughts ?

I'd go along with everything but "plays an instrument". One does not need the ability to make music  in order to appreciate or enjoy it. I would substitute "is intimately familiar with the sound of live music" instead.

requirements:
lots of free time
lots of money, or a day job
a sensible business plan
working knowledge of circuits
ability to experiment properly- this is a critical gap.

i think its also behind the success of companies like ARC, CJ, VAC, CAT and some others.

I would add, "Not interested in making tons of money by "gouging" audiophiles with ridiculous prices & hype"...

One who designs "for the love of the hobby"... like a "Field of Dreams"... "for the love of the game"...  :)

I know a few like the above, but unfortunately I see a lot of "gougers"!  :duh

I would add 'has a good boss or someone else running the business'...
