Title: FREE TICKETS NC Symphony
Post by: richidoo on May 19, 2010, 12:19:21 PM
This Friday, May 21, 8PM at Page Auditorium, Duke University.  General admission.  I have two tickets that I can't use due to ballet recital.

http://www.ncsymphony.org/events/index.cfm?view=details&viewref=calendar&detailid=774&eid=1256&sdate=5/1/2010

I hope someone can enjoy this concert! Copeland (Fanfare), Hanson, Tchaikovsky (rarely played 3rd Symphony), with Bill Curry conducting.  :thumb:  It's gonna be a good show.
Thanks
Rich

Hi Rich
I'll take those symphony tickets off your hands, if they're still available ;-)
Thanks
Richard

Sounds like a great program. If only it was a little less than an 1100 mile round trip .......  :(

Well, the concert was great! Thanks again Rich (and especially for the door-to-door delivery...wow).
It was our 20th anniversary today and we were trying to figure out how to celebrate when I saw your post about the tickets. Took off early from work, had a nice dinner and then sat 7th row center.

I think I'll wait till tomorrow to turn on the stereo system so as not to be disappointed with the less-than-lifelike dynamics and decay from a few puny drivers. I think that may be part of the reason I listen to less classical music these days... it's so hard to get right. My wife said afterward, "We should see more live music." Yes!

Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed the performance so much. How was the Hanson work? I was sorry to miss that. The others I have good recordings.

Congratulations on the Happy Anniversary. We just had our 18th this week.

I spent the evening at the dance recital of my 7yo's dance academy. Jazz and tap tonight, ballet is tomorrow. An hour and a quarter of raging pubescent estrogen onstage mixed with metal compression tweeters blasting mp3 files of Michael Jackson, feminist prog-rock songs, and corny old jazz. The funnest part was counting the 16 dance numbers that came after my daughter's which was sixth. I thought I lost count, but I was dead on at the end. ;)  All kidding aside, it was pretty fun, some of the older girls were extremely talented and it's obvious that dance is all-consuming for them. Pros of the future.
