Title: Ridgid Laser Measurer

Resolution is 1/16". This tool is essential for speaker positioning. When the tweeters are exactly the same distance from your ears the soundstage sounds great and the tone becomes very smooth and clean, delicate, exquisite. I don't know what this one will cost, but the competitors are a couple hundred bucks. I hope this one is cheaper as I would love to someday own one myself, instead of always borrowing Carl's Leica laser.

Ridgid is an American company subsidiary of Emerson Tools that makes excellent quality products. They have 4 factories in USA, 2 in Europe and 1 in China. If you register any Ridgid product after you buy it from Home Depot, it is guaranteed for life.  I have been very happy with my Ridgid tools.

You can get the real McCoy for that price.. http://www.amazon.com/Leica-DISTO-Laser-Distance-Measurer/dp/B001AOUQXG

I think the more expensive ones get better accuracy.. but my issue with all other laser pointers I've tried is they can't measure the same distance twice.  I end up asking it, "Well, which is it?"  I don't have that experience with the Leica.

Thanks Carl. I thought I remembered the Leica price higher when I looked last year.  I guess a lot of things prices are lower now. Accuracy and consistency is pretty important.

I have the D2 Disto and it is almost perfect for me.  If it had a way to mount it to a tripod perfectly centered it would be completely perfect.  I think it uses the same laser/reading software as the D3 or whatever the next step up is.. same specs, just more features.  The D2 also has a lit display that makes it really easy to read in low-light man caves. ;)
