Title: Craig's List
Post by: richidoo on April 28, 2011, 10:28:17 AM
There are a lot of audio items sold on my local Craig's List. I search for specific brands, but mostly just search the electronics section with the word "audiophile" or "turntable" etc. I've not bought anything there yet.

There was once a guy who programmed a website so it would go out and search ALL Craig's Lists around the country for high end audio brand names and list all the current ads around the country in one location. Craig's List told him to stop, but it was cool while it lasted.

Have you bought any audio gear through Craig's List?

I have not bought, but have sold a couple of items on CL.  Luckily they were smooth transactions.

I listed some Cerwin speakers on Craigs List, but no hits. The local guy that bought them found them via Audiogon.

The only thing I ever bought off of Craig's list was a pair of Piopneer TZ-7 speakers
that used TAD drivers
here's a link & pic. of the TZ-9 the TZ-7's bigger brother I paid $250.00 for the pair

Found this with a ebay ad
The TZ speakers were engineered by Pioneer's Technical Audio Devices (TAD) Professional Loudspeaker Components Division in Long Beach, California. It was sold only in North America and only through select Pioneer Elite dealers. Pioneer's audio engineers spent a considerable amount of time in engineering this speaker to compete head to head with the best and most expensive speakers on the market. The TZ-7 featured two 8-inch woofers front and rear, a 2.56-inch cone mid-range and a 1.0- inch dome tweeter. The mid-range and tweeter employed newly developed ceramic carbon. The d'Appolito positioning of the tweeter (middle instead of top) allows a closer version of the "one point" source illusion and also helps smooth horizontal dispersion Cabinets measured 40.2 inches high, 12.6 inches wide and 14.2 inches deep. Each speaker is 77 lbs. Power rating is 50- 250 watts, speakers are a 4 ohm model. Speakers sound great.....very nice....can be bi-amped. Price on the TZ-7 LTD were $1800.00 new in 1990.

I did a search on the NY Craig's List for the word "Audiophile" and of the 40 or so things that popped up I wouldn't have considered any more than 5 or 6 of them even remotely related to high end audio. #-o

I got my B&O Tx2 turntable with an MMC-2 cartridge from CL. $250 and a sweet deal.

I've also sold a couple pairs of car speakers on CL. does that count?
