Title: Belkin PureAV PF60
Post by: Barry (NJ) on December 14, 2011, 08:33:08 AM
I saw a thread about this unit over in Cheap and Cheerful over at AC (http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=99659.0) and decided that with the good things said there and at $125 each, I couldn't resist and picked up a couple.

http://www.buy.com/prod/belkin-pureav-pf60-home-theater-power-console-belkin-pureav-pf60-home/207514357.html

Well they arrived today, and I must say that upon first inspection I'm quite impressed! The units are heavy and well made, with solid construction and a VERY thick shielded 14 gauge power cord rated for 600v. I'll be hooking one up in the living-room for the LCD, x-box, blu-ray, and receiver there, and I'm also going to put one in the basement on my main system. I'll report back on sound after some listening. I checked today and they've gone up in price to $190, but still a pretty good deal from what I can see, and Amazon has them for $168 http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-AP41300fc10-PureAV-Theater-Console/dp/B001541R5W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323881971&sr=8-1

Forgot to mention that when the Black one is on deal the Silver one is not. And vice versa.

Well I really like it! It has improved my system a good deal!

Disclosure: I was running my system through a decent, but still simple Belkin power-strip before this, as I only have one outlet near my system.

This unit has given me a more quiet background, more expansive sound-stage, and better dynamics too. Well worth it for me!!!  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

What no double blind test ?/

Great for video applications. A monster HTS 3500 as well as a Tice enhancer have been serving us well for years.
Good to know about the Belkin.

Great that this is working out for you Barry. I had the smaller PF30(?), and it didn't quite cut it in my audio system.
Plus it hummed, loud enough I could hear it from my sweet seat.

Wow, hummed? The 2 units I have are dead quiet, the one I have down in my main system has actually quieted some of the transformer hum my amps have. I'm a week in now, and I still feel it's improved the sound of my system. But again, it did replace a far simpler power strip that may have been chocking my system somewhat.

I had 2 PF60's, neither one hummed.

FYI, it appears the price has gone up and is now cheaper to purchase through Amazon.com.

In my comparison when I had the unit I compared it to the monster HTS 3600 and the Belkin was better for video and the Monster was better for audio. YMMV

Years back started out with a Monster HTS 3500 for the music system. Clean clear but crisp and bright on the top. Bass was really good Not a fan of bright or crisp so in came a Richard Grey 400. better however brought te soundstage forward a tad too much. Picked up a Tice Enhancer tried both the Monster and Tice together. lived with that combo for some time.
Power conditioners of all types and designs have graced our system. Not all had a good affect. Some robbed dynamics, others brightened the sound.
Then came along the Uberbuss. When first inserted the sound was strident and hard. After 250 hours the stridency vanished. This was the first PC that did no harm in my system. Will try a Belkin though why not. The system changed so much since trying the othrs. Maybe it is time to revisit the previous combos. Thanks Barry for starting this thread. Time to experiment.
Disclaimer we are the NY rep for PI Audio.
