Title: George Wright AU -70 in the haus
Post by: topround on December 18, 2011, 07:04:04 AM
I picked up a pair on Geroge Wright mono's
the AU -70's two KT 88 perside, I really did not want mono's but they only come in mono. I am looking to get the power I need with as few tubes in the power stage as possible.
So I went from 2 stages of push pull( 4 el34 per side) to one stage of push pull(2 KT 88 per side)and really like it.
Of course the best would be only one tube per side, but I don't think they make any 60 -70 watt single tube designs. At least one that I could afford.

Currently running the table direct into the amps using the amps gain controls as volume, and it works great, really great.
Now I need to the hook the Micro Seiki back up and get a great phono stage and I should be done...really.

One thing that bothers me is that I need 2 power cords, trying to find one is hard enough, two is a real pain and expensive.

Looking good there. GW made made great amps. Those amps really like Essence ESP powercords. You can find them used at the Cable Company.
