Well my wife and kids will be out so I thought I'd have a few guys over. Not looking for a big crowd so post here and I'll send you my address via PM.
I figure I can get 2 rigs going, my main rig in the basement (Sony cdp-XA20ES or Linn Sonodek > AA DLC/PS3 > AA OM150 > Gallo Reference 3.5) and a second up in the living-room (Sharp BR Playe r >AA DLC/PS3 > Threshold Stasis 3 > Gallo Nucleus Solo or KEF Q50), if they don't step on each other too much. It's not a big house and the sound carries ;)
Folks are welcome to bring stuff to plug in (equipment/cables) and or play (CD/LP/SACD/DVD/BRD) as I'm usually interested to see how other things sound or can alter the sound I get.
Hi Barry,
Tommy left some goodies here (only a pair of top-of-the-line Cherry Ultra Monos, 1800 watt transformers each ) after the Superbowl. If I get his permission and they're still here Sat., would you like me to bring these pups over?
I'll post pics tonight maybe w/ some comments, but dayumm I didn't think bass could go deeper than what my stereo Cherry Plus does, but sure enough the monos do!
-Mike
That'd be awesome Mike, please do!
Barry,
What time are you thinking? The usual 1-ish?
Can you please PM your address to me again?
Thanks very much
Yes 1:00 is the plan, address sent ;)
Does anyone else need my address? If you sent me a PM but didn't ask for it, I just figured you already had it.
Just got confirmation, The Gallo Classico IV, and their creator will be in attendance :thumb:
Oh, and if folks could bring cables (power, interconnect, speaker) that would be good, I have some spares but not many ;)
Great - I was hoping the Classicos (and Mr. Classico) would be there. D'ya know what model?
Yes Mike, as stated in the post... "The Gallo Classico IV" ;)
d'oh :duh
So....how'd it go ?
I had a nice time yesterday Brry. Thanks for opening your home to us layabouts.
I was very impressed at how the various Gallo speakers responded to equipment changes. Every time something was moved in and out they changed quite dramatically. The new signature speakers (protptypes) were a bit more of a whole cloth than the older models and sounded great with the Cherry stereo amp and the VAC preamp and the Sony CD player. I didn't get to hear the 4's downstairs, but they sounded pretty nice upstairs; a bit more bass, rounder and fleshed out. As you said, your downstairs room may have a bass suck out so I would have liked to hear the 4's in there to see how they compared to the reference series.
Thanks for a good time,
Bob
Barry,
Thanks for having us over yesterday. I had a great time listening to the tunes and catching up with everyone.
Barry,
Thanks for having us over. I had a good time.
The system sounded very good, once we swapped some equipment.
Really liked Mike's VAC in your system.
Those Gallo's are very good. Anthony's new signature mods really improve the tonality in the mids. Now they have the fullness of the Classics's which l like, but with better clarity, speed, and imaging.
I was nice hanging with the Guys.
Thanks,
Joe
It was a good time by all accounts. Thanks for having us. It was a treat meeting Anthony Gallo and hearing his prototype.
The BlueRay of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame 25the anniversary was very entertaining. Tommy did the trick with his Cherry Stereo Amp. Adding the tubes of the VAC Pre tied it all together.
Good seeing all the guys again. Mike thanks for picking me up and driving. The traffic was insane.

Barry,
Thank you again for hosting the mini-rave. You're a great host 8)
I enjoyed listening to Tommy's and Anthony's latest creations. As others noted the signature version of the Gallo 3.5's are simply excellent speakers. I liked Tommy's stereo and mono-block Cherry amps. The whole house was shaking from the bass
Thanks to Paul, Putz, for bringing the DVD's. Great tunes, especially the Brian Wilson tribute.
See you all soon; and thankyou again Barry.
Jim
Thanks everyone for coming by yesterday! I had a great time, but it was tiring, we really did swap a ton of equipment and cables around. Anthony's speakers, Tommy's amps, Pete's power cords, DAC's whew, I was wiped last night, and a bit sore today, but it was all worth it. Thanks to all who brought a little dessert, nosh, or beverage to help nourish the crowd. And also to those who brought some equipment to make the event that much more interesting :thumb:
Best to All, Barry
P.S. as far as pictures go I was way too busy to take any, but Tommy was taking a bunch so hopefully he'll post some soon, if not I'll bug him a bit ;)
Barry
Thanks for really good time.

Sounds like it was a good turnout, without pictures to prove !
Barry I had an awesome time. You have a gorgeous home. What a great experience, Anthony & Tommy, two great manufacturers. The Cherry & the Gallo made for great synergy. Also mixed in was one of my favorite preamps made by VAC.
I think the Gallos like power, they really came to life after adding the Cherry amps.
Thanks for having me!
Mike
