Well it took quite a while to get this project off the ground, but Bobby's "Mini Mancave" ids finally up and making music. It's far from done, but it is pumping out tunes. :D
Among the things that need to be done it the installation of two dedicated AC lines. Right now power is being supplied via an extension cord being run up from the basement through an abandoned duct from the house's original hot air heating system. But it wasn't getting off the ground waiting for all the little pieces to be completed, so we figured it was time to just get it up and running and we'll tie down the loose ends when time permits.
Everything went pretty smooth except for mounting the cartridge, The suspension on the Sumiko Blue Point special that I retired off of my TT when I got the Blackbird collapsed (You'd think you could get better reliability out of a 20 year old cart with 5 -6,000 hours on it. ) I mounted a Grado Green just to get things going. Nowhere near as good as the BPS, but it beats silence. I will have to start looking for a good deal on a better cart, but since the TT is up and running there is no pressure to rush.
The system went into a room that we had never put an audio system in at all so I am starting completely from scratch with regards to room placement and acoustic treatments. Which is not a bad thing in this case, because it will give Bobby a chance to learn about all of those setup concepts and techniques. Like I said it has a way to go, but I was very impressed at how god it sounded right out of the starting gate. I also need to figure out what kind of furniture will be going into that room, so until that is finalized room tuning may be a moot point since changing out the furniture can have a big impact on the sonic signature of the room. One of the first things we need to do it to pick up an area rug to kill some of the reflections coming up off of the hardwood floor.

24th it is.
That is going to be a nice place to try the Neko DAC. The PDX DAC will be resrved for the main rig. After the LP demo of course.
