Well Guys, my wife and kids will be out of the house, so I figured it was time for a gathering 8)
About a month ago I had my Audio Alchemy amp re-capped, and that added some impact to my system.
Just last weekend Anthony and I upgraded my Reference 3.5 speakers to Signiture status, only the second pair in the world ;) and that's added a good bit of richness and increased dynamics to the mid-range.
I'm a happy audiophool :D
Anthony may come by with some goodies too. [-o<
Not up for a big crowd 10-15 tops, so post here or send me a PM for address and phone info ;)
Just a note that I have gotten a number of PMs but there's still room for a few more ;)
Barry,
I would like to attend, not 100% sure yet, but if I come should I bring the Luxman mono's? 40 watts in triode, but very powerful watts.
Not sure of the sensitivity of the Gallos?maybe SS only?
If they are not too insensitive they might work out, and I would love to hear the Luxes on some other speakers
Mike
Sure Mike, bring 'em by, it'll be good to see you. We'll be using a few different speaker set-ups, pretty sure they'll drive my Solos with no problem, and they'll probably drive the Stradas nicely too. Also, Anthony may be bringing some Classicos, and those are also an efficient and easy load.
Also, if you can't stay all day just come by for a bit you're close, we'll be here.
Start time ??
Bill,
If you are coming I will bring ed's quicksilver amp.
The usual, 1 PM :thumb:

Thanks Mike that would be great
Mike (Topround),
I know it's a long-shot now, but I left my miles_gurtu disc at your house years ago.
Just in case you still see it kickin around, could you please bring it with you on Sunday?
Thanks very much
-Mike
actually I think I can, I saw it the other day when I was throwing crap away, I will look for it tonite.
Are you coming?
mfsoa was one of the first folks to pm me, he'll be here :thumb:
If someone could bring a pre-amp that'd be good. Not sure what's up, but it seems that amps other than my Audio Alchemy OM150 don't mate well with an Audio Alchemy DLC. Both my Bel Canto and Threshold hum when attached to my DLC. I plugged a tuner directly into the Bel Canto, and there was no hum, but that's not much of a source. I also tried using my Nacamichi receiver as a pre-amp and it also made the Bel Canto hum.

I get in for half-price! :thumb:
I could bring my Dynamo but i am sure that would HUM too.......

Well what a great day! Even though Anthony cancelled on us this morning, there was plenty of gear to swap around. Just wanted to thank everyone for coming and bringing some goodies either to taste or hear, to help make the day fun.
Best, Barry :thumb:
Barry,
Thanks for having us over. Had a great time as usual.
Tho we missed Anthony, we had a great "guys" time. With all the fine gear we had, we had a blast. Chef Barry fed us well. The pasta was very much so al dente.
Thanks again, Barry!
Anybody take any pictures? Post 'em up :thumb:
Thanks you Barry for a Great Mini Rave. Both Greg (does not use this forum) and i enjoyed teh time there. We enjoyed seeing the people, esp. a well behaved Topround :-)
The food wwas nice, good job Barry. The more I hear your Gallo speakers, the more I like them.
Hopefully Mikey can get his buddy Mike to set up your Linn TT soon?
Joe and Tommy, i enjoyed the sound of your "D" class SS amps. Mikl, I liked your Tube amps.
Thanks again to the host for allowing us to enjoy the fine time in Joosey :-)
Thanks Barry for hosting a fine Rave. I had a good time. It was nice to meet some new guys.
Your system sounded very nice. Anthony did a great job upgrading your
Speakers.
The system played real well with Mike's Audio Note preamp. Topround's Luxman amps drove the speakers really good, so did Tommy's cherry mono's.
I think bringing in some tubes (maybe a preamp) will bring out some tonal richness, which would be a good thing, IMHO. Just a thought.
The pasta you made was very good, it hit the spot.
All in all a fun day! Thanks for having us.
Glad to hear everyone had a good time. Sorry I couldn't make it. Hopefully, I'll get to the next one.
Well I'm finally getting around to saying my Thanks to Barry
Sooooooooo Thanks Barry. Hey I'll be by for dinner on Fri. make sure you're good with meatballs   .
It was nice to see Topround I hadn't seen him since the 2011 CAF. Glad to see he came out of hiding. I think the best sound of the day was downstairs when Joe's amp was doing it's magic. :thumb:
Again nice to see everybody ............Bill
Barry,
Thanks again for a fun afternoon this past Sunday. I enjoyed all the various combos both upstairs and downstairs. Props to Topround for the marvelous Luxman monoblocs. They sounded very sweet with suprising power. I also enjoyed hearing Joe's Spectron driving the Gallo's.
I didn't have a chance to try the pasta you made; my fault not yours. I haven't missed many so no one should shed a tear for me.
I hope to have a rave sometime in September; however, it will be on a smaller scale. It's too much to have so many people in my home.
Thanks again, Barry.
Jim
I would like to thank Barry for hosting a great"mini" rave!
Ha! It was like a small full rave!
Seeing Barry cooking in the kitchen reminded me of Phil's raves.
It is not easy hosting these things...so much to do, the full raves are a blast but the smaller events get a lot more done.
Great job Barry!
I believe the headcount in attendance was 15, which in my opinion was just about perfect. Any more and it would have overwhelmed me and my home ;) And I'm very glad everyone enjoyed, I had a great time as well, I just wish I was able to really listen to some of the different iterations that my systems went through. Between socializing, swapping equipment for folks, and cooking, I was pretty busy most of the day. Regardless it was great seeing you all!
Best, Barry
