I would love to get a copy (or more) of the Jan 14th Charlie Hebdo issue. If anyone has a friend in France that could facilitate that?
Thanks
It's sold in NYC. Google to find the newstand in the village that carries it.
My DNS won't let me open this link, but it might have the store name.

Where's Shep when we need him?
shep passed... :(
I was thinking of him just yesterday.
Edit: He's probably waiting in his heavenly malebox for his CD player to arrive home from mods. r.i.p. shep.
Noooo, that news ruined my day. I hadn't heard, when did this happen?
I always enjoyed hearing about his upgrade adventures and how he ended up sending gear all over the world to get is worked on.
He was a guy who just wanted good sound and did not care about labels or the prestige of owning certain kinds of gear. The only person he ever cared about pleasing (audio wise) was himself. We could all learn something form that.

Rich, I am wondering if it is the same Shep. The AC post that told of the passing of one of their members named shep was dated 7/10/13 and yet if you look at the member profile of our shep it shows posts in Oct , Nov and Dec of that same year.
Hmmmmm......
I sent a PM to him as well as an email to the address shown in his profile. Hopefully he will respond.
I hope you're right Tom!
Maybe the Maleman took him away by accident?

I'd love to cut loose on this topic with you Werd, but we can't discuss religious or political issues on AN, and this one is both rolled into one.
No worries i hear ya

I cant picture the face. Anyone have a picture of Shep?
I never saw a picture of him. He lived in rural France in an old stone built house. He had another local audiophile friend who he would visit and psyche him up for new changes but money was always tight. He constantly looked for audio tweaks that were very cheap with big effect, so he really was the nervosa in audionervosa. He was big into treble purity. He came to NYC once a year to paint interiors for money. He had very small 2ways on stands, in the stone walled room. His CDP was first modded by Michael Mardis, aka Panos on diyaudio, who lives here in NC. Then shep decided those mods weren't adequate so he shipped the CDP off to UK for mods. He had high hopes for the CDP. He was also into wires. I'm pretty sure he participated in the AN group buy of Grover's white ICs, back when I first came here. So I might have his French address and full name on a backup file. He ordered the first batch of AN T-shirts. I sent him a set of cheap vintage old original JPS interconnects which he didn't like. That's all I can remember, but it's all here in AN archives, including waiting in the malebox.
