Title: Ambiant Internet music.
Post by: Guy 13 on August 05, 2019, 09:01:04 PM
Hi all.
A few years back, I've decided to have ambiant music in my office while I was working on my computer.
I didn't want to spin CDs or LPs or listent to Vietnamese FM music.
So after some research on the web I've decided to look for an Internet Radio.
My criderias were:
Small, with built in speaker and RCA analogue output to connect to an external amplifier
I also wanter a fairly big color screen.
Afrer a few months of search I bought a Grace Mondo (Red, my favorite color).
I bought 15 years ago on one of my trip to Montreal at Future Shop (Now Best Buy)
a small Cambridge Soundworks subwoofer with buit in amplifier for satellite speakers.
I switch the tiny speakers (Propably 2.5'') for a pair of Sony also bought 15 years ago.
They are two way with 3.5 or 4'' woofer, small tweeter with a single capacitor for crossover.
I also wanted to listen to my laptop (You Tube and other audio stuff....)
so I recently bought a Schiit Fully 2 for the ridicoulus prce of 99 USD I can also connect my Sennheiser HD-570 and 650)
on the Fully 2 (Sounds good to me) But each time I wanted to switch from the Internet Radio to the laptop I had to switch the USB cables. So I bought a Schiit SYS with volume control. Now it's more convenient.
I also got a subscribtion to ArtRadio for about 4 USD a month.
So I'm happy with the set up and the sound quality
Just wanted to share, about you guys ?

Hi (Again) Charles.

Excuse my ignorance and for asking,
but what is VG. Maybe Very Good ?
Yes, that's a very good price and that's why I don't need anything else.
Minds you, thare are many radio stations with very little advertising
and good choice of music.

Yes Guy means Very Good. I stream WBGO Jazz for free for background music. Streaming for me in general does not have the sound quality of a CD, LP or music server.

Yes Charles, you are right.
But sound quality for me is not the number one priority,
because it's only background - ambiant music.
It doesn't get all my attention, since it's not critical listening.

Agree background music is just that.
