Thunderbolt, it was developed by Apple
It is also compatible with USB 3.1 spec according to the text. Looks like a USB C connector.

If its Apple it is usually proprietary. You could use an adapter.

Bottom line: although there are differences between the two standards a Thunderbolt 3 cable can be used to connect two USB 3 C ports.
