Title: a little ecc82 type tube roling
Post by: rosconey on January 23, 2007, 02:23:40 PM
did some tube rolling in my candella today-

nothing has changed -still think the brimars are the stinkiest tubes i bought,no life zero bass just no good in my system at all-

still like the tripple mica black plate rca's alot-second best overall-just a tad soft on top is the only thing they dont do right-

still love what the cbs/hyton 5814wa-monster bass great mids highs, just do everything right in my system-

glad i redesigned my case so i can swap tubes easy as all heck

Hey rosco,

I like RCA's too. Have you ever tried Phillips 5814's?

My current favorite 12AU7 is the Amperex Holland ECC186/7316 PQ. i have the Mullard CV4003 12AU7s and they do a wonderful job with the midrange but seem to be too rolled off at the top end in my particular setup. i  recently bought a pair of the new JJ Tesla ECC802S 12AU7 longplates from Triode Electronics and they were very inexpensive but they sound like a million bucks in my Candela preamplifier. i think i would like to try a pair of the CBS/Hytron 5814wa's also.thanks....WCW III

Another great tube besides the CBS 5814A,  is the Raytheon triple mica blackplate square getter 12au7 or 5814A. It just seems to do everything right in my experience.
