My 6-month-old Pass Labs XA25 lost its left channel. It was unplugged and I was inserting speaker cables and when I went to play music sound only came from the right channel. This happened a few months ago and I shut it off and then turned it back on and it was fine. This time the same did not cure the problem. I called Pass Labs, and the guy immediately said it is a safety circuit built in for high sensitivity speakers like Lowthers. My speakers are not Lowthers but are 92 db. Never heard of this but now I have to ship my amp to California so they can lower the sensitivity.
Geez, it must be a heavy beast too. Did you buy it new or used? Don't remember you having a Pass amp.

Read my sig. Bought new 6 months ago. UPS wants 285.00 to California, pirate ship 123.00 so you know who I went with. Pass said they cannot issue a return label for repairs. It's really not a repair it's them adjusting their own circuitry. The guy says it will give me some more wattage also.
Sorry it's not in my sig.
The reel to reel does both7 and 15. It's really a studio deck. Maybe Dave knows about them Teac 3340s. I got it for decor, a friend of Toprounds was getting rid of it, FREE. It works just haven't hooked it up and wasn't planning on it. He did give me some prerecorded music.

This is why I'm now a Pirate Ship user. Of your Orchard, Quicksilver and Pass amps, which is your favorite...or is it system dependent?

A reel to reel like that is always an eye catcher

I like all three. It's like tube rolling but I will admit it I like the tone and texture of the Pass but the Orchard still has better imaging and a blacker background.

I am getting a custom solid state amp for evaluation soon that uses the Micro Audio smps. Jack told me Micro makes smps modules that work for Leo's amps. Indeed I tapped on the various modules and it mentions some are Orchard compatible. Now I don't know what's in Leo's Starkrimson Ultra and I'm busy breaking in the iFi LAN iPurifier Pro with newly purchased JPLAY for iOS and it's a sonic revelation. Depending on how this coming evaluation amp sounds, I might just upgrade the Starkrimson Ultra with the super low noise smps. If I don't like the new amp well enough or just decide to upgrade the Ultra, the guy on the east coast would do that for me. Need new binding posts on the Ultra anyway. He's also pretty close to you...

They will not fit into the Starkrimson that you have. You will have to rearrange the layout and either tap new holes or get a new bottom panel. I inquired when they first came out

Thanks. Don't think I want to spend money on that, especially when I have a class D amp with those Micro smps modules coming in for evaluation
