Got a great tip from Triode Pete. Colored LPs use metal oxide which can magnetize. Had an OLd RED LP. Never sounded right. Demagnetized it and wow what a difference. Try it and be happier.

Engineers are smart guys , especially Pete 💡 I had no idea. I didn't know you still played vinyl, Charles.

The same reason to demag CD's before ripping. The inks on them are usually magnetic from the use of iron oxides and other magnetic and paramagnetic materials in dyes.

This is what we used...
Furutech DeMaga (https://furutech.com/product/demag-alpha/)
I use it on my outgoing cables as well. Seems to have an additional "cryo-type" effect on the cables...
I also use a UK-made Eclipse Demagnetiser (Sheffield, England) Eclipse Demagnetiser (https://www.eclipsemagnetics.com/en-us/products/workholding-systems/table-top-demagnetiser/)
Cheers,
Pete

Forgot Furutech made that unit. Cost more than my whole vinyl setup. I was picturing something like the old Radio Shack bulk tape erasers.

I hate spelkerrupt!
Demagnetizer not demagnetized
Yes still play some vinyl. The ole Kuzma STOBi with STOGI arm wired with Crystal Cable. A Ortofon Bronze M2, MM. Built in tubed MM phono stage in the Audio Hungary C200 Preamp. I use a Radio Shack Demag.
