Got a great tip from Triode Pete. Colored LPs use metal oxide which can magnetize. Had an OLd RED LP. Never sounded right. Demagnetized it and wow what a difference. Try it and be happier.

The same reason to demag CD's before ripping.  The inks on them are usually magnetic from the use of iron oxides and other magnetic and paramagnetic materials in dyes.

Charles what are you using as a demagnetizer?

This is what we used...
Furutech DeMaga

I use it on my outgoing cables as well. Seems to have an additional "cryo-type" effect on the cables...

I also use a UK-made Eclipse Demagnetiser (Sheffield, England) Eclipse Demagnetiser

Cheers,
Pete

Forgot Furutech made that unit. Cost more than my whole vinyl setup. I was picturing something like the old Radio Shack bulk tape erasers.
