Well said, Tom.  I was emotionally moved by the music when I listened to my system with the DAC Rich brought over... by music that didn't emotionally move me before.  So, I learned something in that experience which is my incentive to upgrade.

It was a good reminder of why I love this hobby... it is so versatile and provides so much depth I can dabble in it at any level I want.
I really enjoy listening to music.

Inscrutable

Even though this is old, it seems deserving of a bump in that there are a lot of important and insightful comments here.

Of course, that's all about to change.

The main thing i've discovered is that I was a black lab in a former life.

Diary entries of a lab:
Oooh, ... today I went for a walk ... my favorite thing!
Oooh ... today I caught a frisbee .. my favorite thing!
Oooh ... today I chewed a squeaky toy ... my favorite thing!

Anyway, not in a fickle kind of way, but rather that I do and can enjoy just about everything gear-wise - perhaps/albeit for different reasons - appreciating it for what it is rather than what it isn't, and cutting through that pretty immediately to the music underneath. Maybe it's just non-discriminating, I don't know. I DO enjoy certain things more than others, but I enjoy all of it sufficiently. Not sure if that's Evolved or DEvolved.

BTW, Diary of a cat:
