Thanks for tyhe offer Charles, but I am using my old MTM's. Forgot just how good these speakers sounded, and I'm enjoying the heck out of them again.

I tried the battery to the ribbon trick - NFG. Not even a glimmer of a trickle of a move on the ribbon. So there is definitely something wrong with the ribbon/magnet assembly itself. Still looking for a cause/solution.

Bummer about the battery outcome. The Apogees are warm compared to your MTMs I'd bet.
  Are there parts available ?

Still one or two more tests to run. First I need to completely disconnect the ribbon from the crossover network and rerun the battery test and the continuity test on it. The connected crossover could be giving me a false reading and disguising a break in the ribbon that can be repaired, once found.

All is not yet lost.

GOT IT!!!!!

At a suggestion from someone over on the Apogee board I disconnected the crossover from the ribbon and checked continuity again. Bingo. The coil across the resistor was masking the break in the ribbon. A few checks with the meter and I fouond where things werentt making contact. A quick patch to the spot that had a micro-break and presto chango. We're back in business again and playing sweetly.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys.
