Touch setup hints wanted for connecting to an external DAC?

Well my DUET died, but was under warranty.

After 2 weeks of 'help desk Hell' with Logitech, they sent me a Touch as a replacement.

It's connected by coaxial cable to a EE Minimax dac.

Are there any settings to tweak in the Touch to optimize the Touch -> DAC connectin?

I know there are tweaks for the Touch and I'll get to them soon enough, right now want to get best connection.

Playing mostly .flac, changed the setup to decode at the DUET receiver. So, that tweak is still enabled.

There a a bunch of settings that can be tweaked and you can find them out on the Slimdevices forums.   I have both a Duet and a Touch and I can tell you that to my ears and in my system, the Touch sounds better (using an external DAC).   But the DAC in he Touch is also better than the one in the Duet.

There is a tweak that I have not attempted (yet) but will called 'Enhanced Digital Output'... that enables the use of USB Dacs and allows playback of 192k playback if your DAC supports it.   Now, will you be able to hear a difference?  Dunno.

There can be a difference in sound between flAC AND WAV when decoded on the Logitech. Try decoding on PC vs Touch to see which you prefer.

With hard drives so cheap now, I am tempted to rip to wav instead of flac. I convert my library files to other formats a lot too, so wav would make that simpler.

You have to implement the Soundcheck mods - Makes a substantial difference IMO.
Wasn't easy for me the first time but the instructions are better now for the 3.0 toolbox.

Rich, a bit off topic but... if you switch from flac to wav, where is all the tag info stored?  I thought wav was just the music and nothing but the music.

Back on topic, I have found that letting my PC decode the flac instead of the Touch does sound a bit better and, strangely enough, got rid of all stuttering with hi-res 96/24 files.  Even though more bits are being sent, the Touch isn't having to work as hard.
