new Oppo player adds standalone DAC and headphone amp features

the new Oppo 105 universal player due by year end will now allow for digital inputs so it can be used as a standalone DAC.

I wonder why Oppo decided to add the headphone amp features to their players. I remember having CDPs with headphone jacks and not using the headphone jack. The audio enthusiasts in my family didn't use the headphone jacks on their players as well.

I'm an Oppo fan. I have my trusty Oppo BDP-83SE that I still like very much. I never got the BDP-95.

I love my BDP-83 for movies, but find it a bit thin for music. I haven't heard the upper offerings, but I may look into a BDP-103 in the not too distant future so I can move my 83 into the livingroom or bedroom.

  Makes no sense to me unless the DAC is improved. As a transport its a killer. As a stand alone in multi channel a winner. In two channel good. Great for movies.

Oppo's always had a reputation as having a great picture quality, and decent sound for the money. Not giant killers, but decent enough to satisfy our audiophile souls when used in a home theater setup. Better than most of the competition anyway.
