DSD Conspiracy... Does it sound better?

I lent my Playback Designs to a guy out my way here in Aus to check out on his system and another mates system we both know.

Now prior to leaving my place with it we heard DSD on my system which at the moment is Lenehan ML3 Reference and a NAKSA 100 amp.  Via DSD it was clearly and easily better than my PDX dac - the best digital I know.

But that is not what they found.  On their system which used SGR and Elac speakers - yes DSD on the PD was better but they preferred straight bog standard PCM on some DAC's they had.

It seems that DSD is, at least to some extent, system dependent.
