Purity Audio Design does it again....new product teaser

Purity has always strived to bring new ideas to market. Over the past couple years, my partner has been pushing me to design a product he has wanted to see come to life.
A couple years back, Purity released what was at the time the first audiophile grade, fully balanced tube buffer......the Harmony.

Well here we are in 2014 and we have done it again. Soon to be officially debuted (Axpona 2014 maybe ), will be the first tube buffer designed around the infamous 300B tube.

For several months now, I have been enjoying the sound of a fully balanced 300B buffer in my system. Stay tuned for more information on the "MELOS". The web page has not yet been publically published but will be shortly.

This is a very unique product and we are confident it has the potential to change the lives of passionate music lovers.

As a side note, the MELOS will be available in both balanced and single ended versions.

The inquiries are starting to come in asking for pricing. pricing is as follows

Full transformer coupled balance version $5,495
Single ended model $4,495

We are taking preorders starting Monday of next week. It will het the first dealer's showroom late this month, early March.

Some questions that came through my mind since I'm not so familiar with this stuff.

With the MELOS 300B tube buffer where in the signal chain will it sit? Between Source to Preamp or Preamp to Amp?

How many 300B tubes will be used with the MELOS?

Will the tubes be shown or encased? The reason I ask is that I see the 6SN7 or 6922 tube buffers from Yaqin and other makers they have the tubes exposed. That look is just blah to me now.

Hi Sleepy,

The 300B buffer would be used like most any other buffer. Between a source and preamp or between preamp and amp. I use it between my solid state SACD player and tube preamp.

There are two 300B tubes. One for each channel. Obvioulsy a 300B is a bit bigger than your 6SN7 or 6DJ8 as well as being much prettier to look at. They do protrude throughout the top. Here is a link to the web page where you can see a scale rendering of the unit.

I like the name Harmonia. For some reason I like hearing the 300B after the name too. Harmonia 300B...

The rendered picture looks nice. My knee jerk reaction when I saw it made me think of Lampizator. I think there used to be a Lampizator power supply that had big tubes protruding from a jet black metal casing. I hope you aren't offended. The pricing is similar to Lampizator so you are in good company methinks.

I can't wait to see more pics of the Harmonia.

No offense taken. We have been working on this model for about 2 years now. I ony came across Lampizator about 2 months ago. Do you know what the "big tubes" were that you remember.

The pricing is similar to Lampizator so you are in good company methinks.

What similar product does he have? At what price point? Their web site is difficult for me to navigate so i'm unable to find a product similar to our 300B buffer. Does he do modifications or sell retail products? I see he does a lot of work with DACs.

I can't wait to see more pics of the Harmonia.

Chassis' are almost completed. Soon as they arrive, we will get them completed and pictures posted. The rendering is very close to the finish look.

2) All Harmonia buffers will come equipped with EH300B Gold Grid tubes.
3) Any orders submitted now will be filled on a first come, first serve bassis and assembly will start the end of March/beginning of April.

And, oddly enough. Guess who we are partnering with in one of our rooms at Axpona! Yep, Lampizator. In this room, it will be Vapor Audio loudspeakers, Purity Silver Statement preamp with Ultra GT Power supply, the Purity PSE300B Ultra mono blocs and a Lampizator DAC. Either the Level 5 or Level 7!

Check out the pairing of Lampi and Purity. They look very very nice together IMO.
