Yes in direct comparison the funkens win out over the JJ . however not by much. 12AT7 that is and at $350/ pair. Well "F" the funken.  I use two pairs. One in the Lector CDP and one each for the preamp power supplies. In the power supply the JJ equals the funken. for the CDP funken rules.

Hi Gents,

The problem with simply testing in a component is that it depends upon which tube the component is designed around. If it is designed around the JJ, then the NOS Telefunkens or Bugleboys do not measure up.

Quite a savings in costs when developing a design around the JJ, especially considering the future costs of the NOS Telefunken.

For me, it has gotten to the point of vertical design of the system. This means I have designed the preamp, amp, and now speaker for the utmost quality. I remember this has been discussed before on other forums.

Cheers
