I have a home office system comprised of the following:

Onkyo C-7030 CD player
Little Dot Mk.III Tube Headphone Amp as Pre-amp
BK ST-140 stereo amp
NHT Super One Bookshelf Speakers

I hear a really, really low "pip, pip, pip, pip..." sound out of the speakers.  It almost sounds like it's picking up some sort of a buffering noise from my Apple iMac computer, but I'm not sure.

How do I find it and then of course, how do I get rid of it!?!

Thanks!
Bill

The preamp is probably picking up interference from some network device, cellphone or other appliance.

It might be getting in on an unshielded cable?

Start by disconnecting the pre from the B&K. If there is no noise then connect the pre with no inputs wired to it. If still no noise then re connect the source units one at a time until the nose returns. Once you figure out where the noise is coming from then we can talk about what can be done to get rid of it.

something like this happened with my office system too but it was a sizzling and crackling noise whenever my smartphone was near it. I handled it a couple of ways.

took a trip to ratchack and got some ferrite cores and put them around the wires power supplies of the preamp, turntable and the CDP.

Next up was preamp tubes. I put 2 orange ring dampers on each of the tubes.

After that was careful cable re-routing and migration of some isolation transformers.

A pain in the butt to do but it was worth it.
