Anyone use one or another to clean up the Ethernet service to Streamer or Server ?? This one changes to optical internally.

Used one in my friends system.  Positive changes, but nothing huge.  More subtlety and retrieval of inner detail, especially in the frequency extremes.

Definitely worth the money.

Charles,

I use an iFi in line ethernet filter, the LAN iSilencer, and the iFi gizmo, the LAN iPurifier Pro, that changes to optical and then back to the original signal to isolate any noise. They are not very expensive and I have found them to work very well. The improvements were a bit more detail and better isolation and layering within the soundstage.

Ifi lan silencer user here. Charles you have been over a few times but next time we can unplug and plug in for comparison. I liked
it better than the Stack Audio filter

Mine did make an improvement but it crapped out after six months. The cheaper inline unit worked for years. I gone to using the Stack Audio SmoothLan instead.

The iFi products usually work well and the ones I mentioned are reasonably priced. I would be curious about trying the Stack Audio products, but I don't want to deal potentially with an overseas return.

From what I understand they now have a US fulfilment center around the Chicago area.

Thanks, Jack. That would make it much easier and I would be much more inclined to try their products.

As we've discussed I appreciate the fact that the Stack Audio units are passive so no wall warts or heat. The iFi Lan Purifier had a wall wart and got unusually hot which probably led to it's early demise.  So now I am running the $89 iFi Lan Silencer on the Mesh unit end and the Smoothlan on the streamer end for double cleaning.

I have not had any issues with my LAN iPurifier. Just checked the temperature again and it is only slightly warm to the touch. I have mine sitting on my engineered flooring right next to my rack and I'm also using a dedicated linear Power Supply that Dave found online and recommended.

Mine ran hot from the start even raised up on footers so it could cool on all four sides.  If you look at the Amazon reviews the heat is a common theme.

I understand. I wonder if it's an issue because the wall wart isn't the right rating or inappropriate in some way. Mine ran very hot with the wall wart and just warm to the touch using the dual LPS.

That's possible but I don't own an LPS with a voltage rating as low as it needs. Even with another power supply I'm not sure it will still work. I've got a couple of their lowest priced iPower devices here somewhere.  I'll look and see what their ratings are. Though if I remember correctly neither of them or any of my other LPS's have the required USB-C connector that would be required.

Checked my iFi unit again and it still runs comfortably warm. I wonder if the wall warts were defective or just didn't have the right rating. I have a vague recollection that mine ran hot too with the wall wart until I plugged it into the LPS.
