Remove those WBT Spades.

   As an experiment I removed the WBT connectors from the Morey James speaker cables. To my surprise a less strident and more natural presentation. The WBTs are the model before the Nextgens came out.
   The WBTs are definitely bright sounding. try removing the connectors if they are the screw down type you may be very happy you did.

Did you replace them with another kind of connector or were you able to terminate the bare wire right onto you amp and/or speakers?

 Just twisted the bare wire together. To my suprise it is tin coated copper. I thought Supra was the only Manf. using tin coated wire. So far so good.

Direct wire connection will sound better while it is tight because you are removing the alloy spade and the wire to spade connection. But the raw strands will loosen quickly. The spade is a springy alloy that pushes back against the nut so that it never comes loose. That's why spades can't be pure copper, it flows too easily, not springy enough. But the alloy is potentially slightly less conductive. Trade off for convenience and better sound overall. Eventually you will forget to tighten the speaker post and wonder where's the bass, because damping factor is shot from the loose connection.

If you do bare wires, wrap them around the post so that when they come loose it only affects sound quality, and can't fall off the post and make a short.

I use Analysis Plus spades on my speaker cables with a gas tight crimp on the power amp side . The speaker side is a bare wire connection.

I've never been crazy about WBT's spades, except for how well they fit in their associated binding posts.

  They will remain NUDE. No connectors thankyou. The connection appears to be tight as a crabs arse. Well for now anyway.
