Don't know about the new stuff, but I had a 1212m for a while until I bought an RME Fireface 800 for my home studio and the little E-MU sounded quite good.

Well, only sort of pro now.  I believe Creative Labs bought E-MU a couple of years ago and they've pushed the line towards cheaper models than there used to be available.  Still, I haven't liked almost any "home audio" DAC in the $100 range so far and my 1212m (it was an internal PCI card) sounded good for $179 so it's hard to argue with that value.  The drivers were a little screwy, but that's Creative for you.

Well, pro in the sense that when you look at the E-Mu line of products they are pretty much all focuse towrds the production of music vs the reproduction of already recorded music. But I do agree that they are adressing the lower end of that market. (more like the home recording enthusiast.)
