Hey Bill

I too love the look of your SE PP EL84 amplifier. That wood case looks really cool. Will there be an LED light on the front to show it is on or can you see the glow of the tubes from the top of the amp? The reason I ask is that I was talking to a DIYer by me and we were talking about power LED lights and tube amps. I told him of some other designs where there is no LED light on the front because with the exposed tubes you can just stare at the pretty glowing tubes and not be bothered by a blue led light.

Will there be any fans on the inside to keep the tubes cool especially if you go to 6L6GC type tubes or more powerful ones? I keep thinking an enclosure like that would just have too much heat inside of it with those more powerful tubes.

Now IMO if you are going to go with an amp that uses 807 tubes that has an adapter you've got to show that off. Here is an older amp where I took out the 6SN7 and put in a 6F8G tube. I even tried to match the wire to the wood chassis. I took it a little far but I dig showing off odd stuff like that.

As far as the PPE84, what you see is only the chassis. The transformers and tubes will be mounted on the top plate (after a thin copper foil is applied). They are not going to be internally mounted. No need for a cooling fan. With el84s, they are bright enough to not need an LED to indicate the amp is on.

I have other chassis in the works for other custom amp and preamp builds.
Also, As seen on the custom shop page of the site, I will be working on an ultimate single ended system. This will.be a time consuming build that I will work on between other orders.

This is another custom Parallel Pentode Edition 10 wpc EL84 amplifier using the RH Design circuit and built around a tube rectified power supply. Transcendar output transformers and choke. Solid Oak Chassis.

This is a look at the chassis prior to any sanding or finishing. Still a lot of work to do. The chassis is constructed of some recycled Oak approximately 3/4" thick that came from an antique dresser that was sitting in my basement at home for several years. The picture with the white squares indicates the layout of all the transformers. In front of the rectifier tube is the choke. Output transformers and chokes are from Transcendar.

Here is the PPE84 in action.

Using 2x RCA 6AU6WB driver tubes, 4x Valave Art EL84, 1x Valve Art 274B rectifier. SoniCap Platinum coupling capacitors, Cardas binding post (4 & 8 ohms). Transcendar output transformers and choke.

Here is a quick shot of another PPE84 amplifier under construction. It is part of a custom order with this and a full size LeAnna VTPS preamp. Both have Cherry hardwood finish with Satin Lacquer.

This picture is prior to any sanding or finishing. I will provide updated photos as this build progresses.
