Being in the Tri-State area I would eventually like to attend one of these gatherings but... what about the system and music ?  :wtf:

Thankkkkks to Mike and Sharen for another wonderful spring afternoon rave.  We hit it right this time, beautiful sunny Sat. afternoon, great friends and food as always.  This we really appreciate.  That's why I spent much time socializing, basking on the deck, chatting....

Did get some earful of music in, of course.  Jim's ICE amp was superwonderful, simply because it's steal kind of price.  I think I've seen it on A/Cs Cheap and Cheerful thread?  It's also supposed to be listed in A/N.  Of course, Tommy's Cherry amp was great too.  I am just saying for the money the ICE was great.  The Soundfields were also great.

In the other sound room, them guys monopolized it much of the time , so when I finally got into the sweetspot sofa, I just enjoyed the von Schweikert's new sound with the added trimmings.  Loved those sound panels, and those Grammars that Mike rolled out when I was in there.  They really improved the sound in terms of imaging and presentation.

Well, sorry I missed the other gear, simply because I was rambling outside.  Oh, of course, the Gallos.  I always liked Gallos.  Besides their exotic looks, they deliver.  I yesterday listened to the Gallos early in the session.  I somehow thought those were a bit hazy (lack of a better word), or unclear.  That's why I asked Barry if the grill could be removed (not sure what that might have rendered).  But... he didn't have the tools to undress them.....   :thumb:

Mike and Sharen,

Thank you for having us over yesterday.  I had a great time catching up with everyone and listening to some tunes.  Yesterday was the first time I ended up listening to VR4 from the one of the 3 chairs and the sound was wonderful.  Also, enjoyed listening to Soundfield monitor and Jim's Ice amp.

Thanks again.

PS: If someone finds a Cassandra Wilson Glamoured in their pile of CD's please let me know.  It went on a walkabout

Mike and Sharen,

Thank you for  hosting yesterday's rave.  It was a great time.  The weather jinx has been broken :D   A beautiful day with comfortable temperatures.   As usual the food and libations were excellent.  No one left hungry.  It was good to see people I hadn't seen for months, as well as a couple of new people.

I enjoyed listening to Mike's "Big Rig" in the living room.  The bass is awesome and midrange sweet.  It was the first time I got the center chair :)
I spent most of my time in the home theatre suite listening to various combinations of amps and speakers.   The little Episode speakers held their own.  An excellent speakers for the price.

I'm happy most everyone like the Soundfield Audio Monitors I brought.  They're fun speakers and very good for the price.  AJ, the builder is excellent to work with.  He's very knowledgeable and responsive to questions.   Here's a link to his web site:

The ICE amp I brought from China is also an ecellent price/performer.  The sound is excellent, although a litle fatiguing for long listening sesions.

Here's a link to the pricing:

My amp is the A200P assembled.  The price was  $659 including shipping.

There's more about these amps on Audigon and DIYAUDIO.

Mike and Sharen thank you again for a wonderful afternoon.

Looks like Bill got a little 'paunchy' over the Winter.

Or does he need to 'tuck in'?

Hey Jim,

I thought the sound using the ICE amp was quite sweet; fatigue????? May be we should come over and have a long listening session ?  Just kidding!  I liked its sound very much, for an SS amp.

Mike and Sharen,

Thank you both so much for the wonderful day filled with good people, good food, and good sounds! I really did enjoy myself, and it was great seeing you and the rest of the Ravers!

Best, Barry

More thank you's to Mike and Sharen for their hospitality, they always make one feel at home.

Hey Deepak, your Cassandra Wilson  cd turned up later, Mike/mfsoa has it.

I think Mike's main rig sounded the best I have heard it to date once the Monster Cable digital cable (cd player to DAC) was replaced with the Black Cat (?)cable. Plus I believe there was additional acoustic panels this year. And the speaker platforms enhanced the clarity of the bass/lower midrange.

Jim's Soundfield Audio Monitors sounded really good, loved the soundstage depth.
I was in and out so didn't get a handle on all the swapping that went down.

The weather was excellent, a record.
Food was great...the dogs and cat welcomed company...as well as the fellow Ravers.
