Another option to use as front end for HQPlayer is Alchemy.  I use JRiver with EOS (Android) and JRemote (IOS) as front end for HQPlayer Embedded (requires separate license) which runs on a dedicated audio system which is based around Ubuntu Xenial LTS.  I wrote a guide on setting up HQP Embedded - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2cLWlF9cpc9MkQxTTVDdHJTSEk/view?usp=sharing and the thread discussing HQP Embedded on ComputerAudiophile.

The guide has couple of missing steps but I can walk folks through those errors while I work on updating the document.

Edit: I use BubbleUPnP on Android tablet to stream Tidal to HQPlayer and EOS (JRiver Android Remote) to stream my ripped CD.
