Hearing some good things about this CDP. It is being called the "freak' for its performance verses price ratio.
   Sorry no links.

My Thanks also Richidoo and Rollo

I had heard about this CDP not too long ago and forgot about it. I like how the PD-H600 is built. The internals look great and I like the tray. Do you think the RCA jacks look a little flimsy though?

I own a BDP-83 SE and to me the unit as a whole just vibrates a lot. Whether it be a Blu-Ray disc or any other disk.

Time to do some thinking. I don't own too many SACDs and I have a Sony PS3 for HT duties. My priorities now are going more to 2 or 2.1 channel set-ups.

One of our club members has one up and breaking in as we speak. when he reaches the 500 hour mark will will conduct a serious listening evaluation.
As of now out of the box he was very pleased. Usually as good sign if out of box sounds good.
The Oppo can be improved with footers that drain the vibes. If you are using Sorbothane or rubber they will not drain the resonances. Actually will make it worse. Another recco for Oppo is treating the cover internally with dynamat or equal.
I would not spend crazy money on footers at this time. There are so many choices out there. Do some research and try. If you can get a thirty day money back deal get the TEAC and compare directly to Oppo with footers. Have fun trying.

At one time I was considering the Teac UD-H01 it's supposed to be very good for the price. But i bought a Burson instead. Pure audio snobbery. :thumb:

Thanks Rollo for the tips with the Oppo BDP-83SE. The way I tried to dampen the vibrations was much less elegant.

I took a spare sheet of computer PC sound deadening material that I got from EndPCNoise and put that on top of the Oppo. I then took a 5 lb weight that has rubber ends around the edges and put it on top of the sound deadening sheet.

The feet on the Oppo stayed the same.

Well I can't wait for the results on the PD-H600. It does look great the more I look at it.

A very short video about it.

My pleasure Sleeplyguy24. Just remember the most important thing with CDPs is stopping vibration to the transport from below then draining or neutralizing the vibration of the player caused by moving parts and the power supply.
We really like Pon-Tunes for that purpose under the CDP or transport.
Our best recco is a Ultum [ excellent dissipation factor] plastic  plinth supported by Mapleshade Iso-Blocks and Pon-Tunes. Ultum is very very expensive. Corian is another material suited for the Pon Tunes. If you desire spikes use a wood plinth [ Spruce] We find Maple a bit bright.

So...what's the word on the TEAC Charles ? :pop

Like all the wanna bees it went back. Good to VG performance however did not compare to his Carey CDP. As a transport excellent.

I believe I read a review of a TEAC DAC that was also only average...

On another note... as a freak crossover company ASUS (computer maker) has made a pretty phenomenal DAC per 6moons review.
Cheap too.
Its cool ndude.
