Thinking about getting an integrated which is hybrid (solid state amp and tube based preamp section) and one that I am thinking about is BAT VK-300xSE.

Anyone have insight on how the sound is?  The only time that I heard BAT equipment was at Levi's home right around the time I started attending NY RAVE events back in 06/07 time frame.

Have heard BAT a few times some years back, but I'm really no help there. I am curious, though, as to what type "sound" you like.

Nick,
My preference is warmer sounds with mids that are clear.

If you do a bit of googling, you'll find owners and reviewers describing the BAT as neutral and not warm even though tubes are in the chain.

Why the need for so much power? Did you change speakers?

Emil,

I repalced the Zu Druid's with Spatial M3 Turbo's, which do require bit more power  :duh

If you desire a SS output look at Vincent from Germany. If you can be persuaded back to tubed output the Qualiton A20i or A50i is a perfect match for Spatial. They showed together and the reviews were very good.
If you consider SS only  Parasound would be my choice. If you consider hybrid class "D" Arion HS 500 with Duelund hybrid output caps. Have fun.

Yep, I like the Spatial's but still miss my Zu Druid's.  My problem is the space on the side and height.  One of this day's I will move the Spatial's in the family room which has sloping ceiling with width being around 20+ ft and depth around 18+ ft.

The Spatial M4 that we had during the Lampizator GTG sounded pretty open.

Hi Deepak,

On AC, Wind Chaser is loving his Maraschinos on his Spatials.

I'd be happy to bring mine over if you wanted to listen before you commit. Best with a balanced source.

Mike,

I might take you up on it.  Maybe setup something during early March time frame.

Just be careful with the Vincent amps. Some (not all) of their products use this off the beaten path Chinese tube that is not socketed, it id directly soldered into the board. The company claims that it has a usable life such that it will never need to be changed, but tubes are tubes and you never know when one will fail. I personally would not be comfortable owning an amp that needed to go to the shop to have a tube changes. YMMV.

I would just check the model that you are interested in and make sure that all of the tubes are available and user replaceable. Other than that I have heard good things about the way they sound.

You also may consider Pass F7. I'm looking into those myself for the Rethm Saahanas. Read the reviews.

Charles,
The goals is to reduce cables (interconnect, power cord) so looking at good solid state integrated.
