A new release, great choral CD. Modern harmony, latin lyrics. Baritones are louder than on most choral recordings, which is nice. Acoustics very nice.

New from Paul Lewis. Grammophone Editor's Choice, that's usually a good recco. He is very intellectual player, sometimes I prefer other players to his, but I don't listen to Haydn so I don't know any better for this one!     But it's very musical and interesting despite all the thinking. The recording is fantastic. Big, rich, cleanly recorded grand piano in a big space.

Just released today. One of the best sounding choral recordings I've heard.

.....  or free on Tidal.  :thumb:

At least for as long as that lasts given their current problems.

But that aside there is one downside to Tidal that I have started to see, entries into their library are not necessarily permanent. I have come across several albums that I saved to my favorites list a while back that  gave me not available messages when clicked on recently. I'm not sure if this is related to some labels pulling their music from the services do to non payment issues or just a periodic thinning of the herd, but either way it seems that if you find something on Tidal that you really like I might not be a bad idea to buy a copy to insure long term access to it.

Just another reason why I only use Tidal to supplement my collection and not as my primary source of music.

All that said, thanks for the heads up Rich, I tagged this one as a Favorite in Tidal and put it on my to be checked out list.

I used to get that 'not available' thing from Tidal also, even inside of Roon. But I'm not sure it's because the recording is removed. There's no good reason to remove tracks from Tidal (besides they haven't paid royalties in 6 months.) I think I read something about the problem in a Roon support forum post, but I don't remember what it said. Probably something useful like "Reboot your Windows and try again when the weather changes." Hopefully your favorites come back Tom!

Listening to the RR this morning. The recording quality is great in RR tradition, but there is too much church reverb, and the music itself isn't really all that interesting, even by religious choral music standards, imo.  ymmv

I was getting the not found messages even withing the Tidal desktop app itself, so it is not a Roon thing.

It started before the news about non payment of royalties came out, so at the time I was wondering it Tidal did not occasionally analyze the the demand for the albums in its library and delete things that did not get play. While server space is getting cheaper over time, it is not unlimited, nor is it free and I would think over time they will have to trim out the dead wood. Of course they can start right now by eliminating multiple versions of the same album. I can't tell you how many times I have found 8 or 10 different versions of an album, with most of them having the exact same content, which just seems silly to me.
