I remembered  Checkfield from when Cip Davis of Mannheim Steamroller released a few albums by them on his American Gramaphon label, so when I saw this one in the quarter bin last weekend I picked it up.

Mellow new age type jazz, just like I expected.

I took a change on this one from the quarter bin because of Shaffer's association with The Blues Brothers, The Saturday Night Live Band and later David Letterman's Late Show Band.

But while I liked a lot of his other work, this album just did not do it for me musically. Too much Techno dance overtones for me.

That's the beauty of the quarter bin. I took a chance of something I really didn't know much about. I ended up not liking the music, so I can toss out the CD and did not pay much more than would have payed for an empty jewel case, which is what I have left.

Sire/Warner Bros CD

This one is kind of up and down. Some of the songs I like and others IO have no use for at all. But there is enough good stuff to justify keeping this one around.

An older version of Rodrigo's great Concierto de Aranjuez with Narciso Yepes on the much hyped London blue back lp.
Although the performance is nuanced and with great empathy for the piece, the copy is just too noisy to enjoy. 
Anyone need a classic performance.  It's a vinyl that looks much better than it plays.   
The Falla is pretty decent, but I like Alicia de Larrocha better.

I have had a lot of luck quieting down records like that by cleaning them with a steamer. I have done dozens and never warped one yet.

And if it does warp, it wasn't playable anyway.
