Total Time ::: 59:59
::: Non-hi-fi but LOADS better than the original recording. Check samples for feast or famine Fleetwood findings.
::: Warts: Some distortion & hiss. #05 fades in about 47secs late. #12 tapeflip splice 3mins in. Healed/lowered most clapping but has occasional low level & #16 drum section still some clapping.
::: CONTRAST CLAUSE: Mk2 version meticulously remastered & EQ'd version. The Mk1 version without EQ & muffled & only slightly remastered may be found elsewhere.
::: If a bit bright for you, turn down your treble a bit.
::: Originally scheduled for 1972-08-26, but rescheduled & performed Saturday 1972-09-02.
::: Bill: Deep Purple, Fleetwood Mac, Silverhead, ELF (w/Ronnie James Dio) but the taper doesn't remember ELF performing.
::: Tickets $5.50 advance/$6.00 day of show.
::: PRICE CONTRAST: NYC 2019 F.Mac advance Ticketmaster tix $194-$3068 +$fees$. NO typos! 40-570 times more expensive.
::: Some AUD noise deleted at start (before intro), & before encore.
::: If #03 "unknown instrumental" is known to one of you, please spill the beans.
::: Some traxsplits a bit odd as the drums sometimes roll on past the end of the song.
::: About 2 weeks before Danny Kirwin left the band.
::: "Bare Trees" recorded '71-72 & issued March 1972. "Penguin" recorded January 1973 & issued in March.
::: Aside from Gaelic Park 1972-08-30, the only recording to appear from the fall USA 1972 tour?
::: Only the 2nd live "Sunny Side Of Heaven" (from "Bare Trees") to surface with Danny Kirwin?
::: This taper also taped Deep Purple but lent the tape out way back when & it was never returned.
::: This taper also taped Silverhead who were presumably promoting their '72 self-titled 1st LP. Not sure I need to hear it.
::: R.I.P. Daniel David Kirwan (13 May 1950 – 8 June 2018).
Recording Information ::: $35 Lafayette monaural cassette recorder with adjustable recording level & Sony monaural microphone (came with the 7' TC-200 reel recorder) -> master Lebotone normal bias mono cassette, no noise reduction.
Playback (circa 2003) ::: master normal bias mono cassette -> Kenwood KX-W896 cassette deck (azimuth adjusted) -> Marantz Compact Disc Recorder CDR630 -> CD-R -> wavs.
Remastering 2018-07-xx ::: wav files -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset, channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, no pitch (speed) fixes needed after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, differential equalisation applied, Zynaptiq UNVEIL reverb removal & signal focusing processor applied, re-mixed, NO noise reduction, only right channel used after remastering to stabilise the already mono sound] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> Mk2 tagged in foobar -> yr ears. First uploaded 2018-07-xx.
Line-up ::: "Bob" Robert Lawrence Welch Jr. - electric guitar, vocals // "Danny" Daniel David Kirwan - electric guitar, vocals // Christine Anne McVie (née Perfect) - keyboards, vocals // John Graham McVie - electric bass // "Mick" Michael John Kells Fleetwood - drums.
Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.
DimeTravel 424 ::: Thanks to the original taper & trader, The Florida Kid! Thanks to hendrixfan1995 for the differential EQ program, applying the Zynaptiq UNVEIL, & for all the advice. As is so often the case, additional thanks are owed to DIMER gv0000 for supplying assorted information. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This is quite cool & goes out to dedicated DIMER glasnostrd19 - sorry it took so long but worth the wait for the upgrade from my cassette copy to the master! Possibly due to a diet of beer among other issues, and supposely within 2 weeks from this gig on this tour, Kirwan & Welch had a fight. Kirwin started banging his head & fists against a wall, smashed his Les Paul & wouldn't play go onstage. He was subsequently fired by Mick Fleetwood. There's some lovely Kirwin guitar here, including great slide work. A fine tribute to Danny that we all get to hear a fine rendition of "Sunny Side Of Heaven" live & I'm sure no one will complain about having another version of "Trinity" which always seems to have some variations. There's some of the wildest Bob Welch guitar we've ever heard in places - parts of "Black Magic Woman" & "Oh Well" are ferocious. There's a lotta good to be had here for those who can deal with the quality - and it's certainly better than it's ever been in the Mk2 EQ version. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
